Holy Trinity Women’s Fellowship, Nuriootpa

Holy Trinity Women’s Fellowship at Nuriootpa has continued to be blessed with a healthy membership of 22. Like everyone, 2020 was a challenging year but, by God’s Grace, we were able to stay connected during the three months of isolation, through phone calls and visits, including utilising our Holy Trinity Chairperson’s weekly newsletters for photos and fellowship information. Birthdays were not forgotten as each recipient received their birthday flowers including a photo which was published …

90 Years of St Luke’s Nambour Women’s Fellowship 1929 – 2019

Sunday afternoon 7 April 1929, a group of ladies met in the Nambour Town Park and resolved to form a Ladies’ Mission Guild. The first meeting was held at the manse on 10 May and was attended by 10 members. Pastor FH Schmidt was elected President. Over the years, the ladies have made considerable contributions to many projects and equipment acquisitions for the congregation. In addition, they have supported numerous mission and needy causes overseas …

Challenges of living far from a local church and women’s fellowship!

After many, many years of being active members of Lutheran congregations my husband Gordon and I sold our farm and retired to the township of Grenfell in central NSW so that our youngest child could finish his schooling before seeking employment in Sydney. Our nearest Lutheran congregations are now 100 kilometres away in all directions, and the nearest Lutheran women’s fellowship is the same distance. I miss the fellowship of Lutheran women’s gatherings very much. …

St Paul’s Women’s Fellowship, Beaudesert 1951–2020

Where were you in 1951? I was a little kid then, running off to the local school across the road from our church: St Paul’s. Lunch times I’d sometimes spend at my grandparents’ house. Up the back steps in time to hear my grandmother’s favourite radio serial “Blue Hills” and the smell of some freshly cooked sultana cake. But that wasn’t her only passion. She was a regular church member – a leader in her …

Advent luncheon at Katanning

Twelve ladies from Katanning and Narrogin joined together at Dome Café in Katanning on 10 December 2020 for their annual advent lunch get together. It was a beautiful day and the lunch was very tasty. This was complemented by our favourite drink of choice. The best part was getting together, and we didn’t need to wash up! We were each presented with four Ferrero Rocher chocolates and a handmade tile coaster by Sigrid with “Jesus …

LWNSW Retreat January 2020

Come on a journey with me and I will give you more than you can imagine! Opening my Bible to Ezekiel 34:11–16 with a heading The Good Shepherd of Israel little did I know what a ride it would be! A chance to prepare a Retreat for the women of NSW/ACT was like a gift that came from a freshwater spring. An amazing pathway back in March 2019 with the title Pathways to the Good …

“Crazy Cupcake Capers” AGM (Always Great to Meet) – St Petri, Nuriootpa

Firstly, thank you to all our beautiful generous ladies, who baked and made and decorated and voted and laughed and chatted and voted some more. You are all a wonderful blessing in our community! So, we: gathered, greeted, laughed, voted, sang, listened, prayed, sang, discussed, voted, clapped, thanked, prayed, chatted, and voted some more. Then we had afternoon tea (Yum!) and voted again! Yes, we even fitted in some serious “meeting stuff”! Our Leadership …

Immanuel, Woden Valley NSW

The year 2020 has been challenging for our Immanuel Church, Woden, Guild Ladies as I’m sure it has been for all small groups around the country. Seniors’ luncheons were cancelled indefinitely. Retreat, fellowship days, Convention, ACT Church Women services, were all cancelled. Church services were live-streamed – thanks to the technical wizards who made that possible – and the rhythm of all our lives was changed, seemingly overnight! Phone calls, though, are a poor substitute …

A tribute to Marina Fielke – 12/08/1935 – 26/11/2020

We give thanks to God for Marina’s service to LWSA-NT, serving the executive as an extra member, 2nd Vice-President from 2002-2005, 1st Vice-President in 2006 and then becoming President, upon Marlene Schumacher’s ill-health in 2007. Marina presided until 2012, having been driven to all of her visits across the state by her husband Gil, retiring at the 48thConvention held at Loxton. It was at Marina’s instigation that a display of Lutheran Women became part of …

LWWA Fellowship Day 2020

Over 60 ladies and a few men joined us at Rockingham/Mandurah Lutheran Church on Saturday 31 October 2020 for a Reformation style theme We are Women Serving Christ. Marj and Judith, from Esperance, were once again available with their Christian bookshop with lots of cards, Bibles, devotion books, Christmas nativity scenes, DVDs, and many more interesting items for sale. Everything was COVID SAFE with the usual hand sanitiser and Holy Communion wafers in patty …

Darling Downs Zone

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, Zone Rally and Fellowship day 2020 was postponed till 2021, hoping, God willing, that next year will see a relaxing of restrictions. LWQ Retreat: 8–10 March 2019 held at James Bourne Centre, Highfields, was hosted by Brisbane South and Gold Coast with the theme: Bee-Coming More for Christ. It was a buzzing weekend with a beekeeper as the guest speaker, showing the intricate workings of the hives and selling the honey. …

Witta Ladies, Nambour

I am a member of a little historic church at Witta, Qld, 10 kms from Maleny on the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. I join with the Glasshouse Mountains Fellowship. As we could not worship during the lockdown, and our chapel is on a main road, I decided to be a witness outside of our chapel. So, on Palm Sunday, the entry was flanked with palms. On Good Friday we draped a wooden cross in black and red. Early Sunday morning, …
