Convention 2021

CONVENTION 2021 – CANCELLED

The LWA Executive committee regrets to inform you that we have decided to cancel our 19th National Convention due to be held on 24–26 September, 2021 at Horsham, Victoria.

With the widespread threat of COVID-19 continuing in Australia, particularly in Melbourne and the government restrictions and shutdowns for Victoria, we feel that the uncertainty of the risks involved with finalising our plans for convention would be unsafe, unwise and cause anxiety for you all, including workers, guests and visitors to Horsham.

It is particularly disappointing, as our plans for an exciting event have been completed and the committee was looking to hosting you all at the beautiful venue we had chosen. We will also miss out on face-to-face meeting, worship and fellowship together, and the chance for you all to hear what is happening in LWA on a national basis.

Elections for the incoming LWA Executive Committee and voting on the proposals outlined in the upcoming Lutheran Women magazine (August/September edition) which contains the Book of Reports, will be held in a format yet to be determined.

We intend to refund those who have registered and paid for their meals. Those who have booked and paid for the SA bus tour are asked to contact Tracy Smith. We ask for your patience in the matter of refunds.

Further information will be published in the upcoming magazine and in LCANZ and District communications, but for the most up-to-date communication visit this website.

For this reason, because I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints, I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. Ephesians 1:15,16
There are no more fitting words than these verses, first penned by St Paul, to express my gratitude and admiration for the faith-inspired support of LWA for the work of LCA International Mission.

What a roller coaster we have all been on in 2020, and it’s not over yet! Each one of us, either as individuals or a congregational group of people has experienced a whole range of emotions and changes. Above all, in the north we thank God for his protection from the virus that caused us a level of concern not experienced before.

One of the hardest things for me about the COVID-19 lockdowns over the last 18 months was missing out on morning and afternoon teas at Lutheran Women events. Homemade sausage rolls. Proper scones. Those little cheese and bacon toasty thingies I have never learned how to make.
