2021 Convention Offering Thank You

Thank you to the kind-hearted and caring women, of Lutheran Women of Australia, who have contributed a total of $20,979.30 to the 2021 Convention Offering which has been shared equally between the Women’s Care and Counselling Centre in Malaysia and the ALC Women’s Auxiliary.

We pray for God’s blessings on the work through this centre in Malaysia and for the auxiliary at ALC as they assist with refurbishing of the units occupied by pastoral ministry students and their families at North Adelaide.

Strathalbyn Ladies’ Fellowship

Our 29 happy, caring, and enthusiastic ladies meet on the first Wednesday in the month. We begin with a prayer, followed by the devotion taken from the Lutheran Women magazine. Ruth Eckermann (our president) leads us in our Bible study which is taken from Life Changing Bible Verses Every Women Should Know written by Rebecca Luther. During 2020, we were sad to lose two of our members who have gone to be with our Heavenly Father. …

Maitland (SA) Women’s Guild Fellowship Afternoon

Pastor Steve Hibbard and 18 ladies attended the Guild Fellowship Afternoon on Wednesday 2 June 2021. The theme for the day was taken from 2 Timothy 1:6, Stir up the gift of God. To keep with the theme, Cathy Hibbard made crosses for a take home gift, using a coffee sachet and a wooden spoon which displayed the Bible text. A $5 coffee voucher to a local coffee shop was the door prize won by …

On the cover – February/March 2022

Praying through the Year Our Father in heaven God encourages us to believe that he is really our Father, and we are really his children. So, we can pray to God with complete confidence just as children speak to their loving parents. Hallowed be your name God’s name is already holy, but in this prayer we are asking: “Father, help us keep your name holy”. The 54th LWNSW Convention was held at Immanuel, Woden Valley on Saturday 19 June 2021, more than two years after the last Convention due to COVID-19 restrictions. The theme for the day, Building on the Rock was based on Matthew 7:24 Anyone who listens …

Advent Traditions

Since the sixth century, the season of Advent has been set aside as a time of preparation for Christ’s coming. The word Advent is Latin for “coming towards” (“ad” meaning towards and “vent” meaning “to come.”) Most Christians around the world observe four Sundays of Advent. Counting four Sundays back from Christmas Day determines the date of the first Sunday of Advent. Traditionally, churches light one candle each Sunday on their Advent wreath. The candles …

St John’s Women’s Fellowship, Naracoorte

Last year we were able to meet in person for eight meetings. About ten ladies join in along with Pastor Shaun Manning. Each February several of us attend the South East Zone retreat in Robe. For over thirty years, St John’s has been the venue for a unique concept – a One Day Retreat, held at the end of May. It is a zone event focussing on a theme with zone pastors presenting Bible studies …
