Our 29 happy, caring, and enthusiastic ladies meet on the first Wednesday in the month. We begin with a prayer, followed by the devotion taken from the Lutheran Women magazine. Ruth Eckermann (our president) leads us in our Bible study which is taken from Life Changing Bible Verses Every Women Should Know written by Rebecca Luther. During 2020, we were sad to lose two of our members who have gone to be with our Heavenly Father.
This year, we invited Pastor David Christian who came and gave a PowerPoint presentation on his experience in ministry with encouragement and support in Vietnam through Asia Focus. Also, Lutheran Care Counsellor, Martin Gare, came and talked on “Coping with Grief and Loss”. We invited men and women from our parish, Lutheran Churches nearby, other church denominations in Strathalbyn and those people who wanted to join us in these meetings.
Some other highlights this year have been a visit to Pitchford Produce Farm and Talinga Grove Olive Farm.
Two of our ladies talked about their very interesting ancestors and shared photos with us. We have been busy sewing and putting together 91 Birthing Kits for PNG. Erin Kerber and Nevin Nitschke, from LCA International Mission, gave a PowerPoint presentation on what the mission does, and took the birthing kits back with them.
We are currently packing the Samaritan’s Purse Christmas Boxes which are due for delivery in October.
As we continue to meet each month in fellowship, we pray and thank our Heavenly Father for enabling us to do so.
