2018 began when the Women’s Fellowship Committee met in January to organise our program for the year. The program was given out to all members at our first Fellowship Meeting in February. Our Women’s’ Fellowship is a small group of around 10 – 16 members with most of us retired. We meet every second Wednesday of the month. We welcomed a new member and with God’s Blessings, two of our members Val Grau and Elva …

God shines his light on the world – West Moreton Zone Fellowship Day 29 August 2018

Hosts: Ropeley Guild The 51st annual Fellowship Day was attended by 34 people, including three pastors, and hosted by Ropeley Immanuel Lutheran Church Guild. What a joy it was for me to visit this beautiful church, where 80 years ago I was baptised into the family of God. After a lovely morning tea, we gathered under the theme God shines his light on the world. Zone President, Shirley Klinge welcomed all present, especially the Pastors, …

Culcairn Fellowship – NSW

Our Culcairn Fellowship gathers on a monthly basis in each other’s homes. Bible study is led by Pastor Sturm and, if he is unable to attend, we use the Lutheran Women‘s study with everyone contributing. The opening devotions are taken by our ladies. We have undertaken several outreach programs in our area: In July we provided casseroles for the First Tuesday Club where, once a month, a home-cooked meal is served at the Uniting church to …

Lifeway Women’s Fellowship – Epping, NSW

The Lifeway Women’s Fellowship at Epping consists of those who are able to meet during the week and members who cannot, for one reason or another, attend daytime meetings, but who like to keep up with the excellent articles and news in Lutheran Women. Some time ago, we tried three Saturday afternoon meetings at the suggestion of a member who worked fulltime. Unfortunately, it wasn’t successful, as those who work have many commitments and found it …

Gilgandra/Dubbo Fellowship NSW

On the first Wednesday of each month, the ladies of Gilgandra/Dubbo Fellowship meet together for Bible study and fellowship. Two meetings are held in Gilgandra, and the rest in Dubbo, with an average of ten to twelve ladies attending. We are happy that two, sometimes three, ladies travel from Parkes to join with us. We were blest with the arrival of Pastor Joseph Graham in our parish at the beginning of the year, followed by his …

Service with a smile

As the age of the population increases, so does the need for more aged care villages. More recently, greater diversity in the aged care sector has seen a greater offer of independent living, hostel or semi-dependent living, general nursing home care and secure nursing home facilities. The variety and scope provided is as varied as the number of operators providing these facilities. Our readers are sure to be aware of the many aged care facilities …

Face to Face becomes Messages of Hope

“Work has started to become very stressful as the pressure is on, I get married in 3 and a half weeks and I have just taken on my step daughter full time (my partner works fly in fly out).” – (A response to one of your Messages of Hope) Reaching out to people with the good news of Jesus Christ is our united call from God. Media gives us opportunities to share that good news with …

A dark Sudanese woman's hand is spread over some fabric while she sews decorative stitching on a sewing machine.

One stitch at a time

It’s six years since my mum passed away. Last weekend my sister helped dad go through mum’s boxes of sewing stuff. Mum loved quilting and collected pieces far and wide. Dad had the job of cutting them into whatever shape was needed. He’d grumble, but secretly loved working together with mum. Recently, I’ve been helping the Lutheran Community Sewing Group at Albert Park in Adelaide put together a video about their volunteer ministry to new neighbours …

A God Given Gift – St John’s South Sudanese Fellowship

St John’s congregation in Geelong has been blessed to have a group of South Sudanese come to us, over ten years ago, to worship with us. They found us, we did not find them. These Nuer speakers were part of a Lutheran Church in South Sudan and Ethiopia, and also had contact with Lutheran World Service in the refugee camps. Over the years the number of refugees has grown, and there is now a group …
