Advent luncheon at Katanning

Twelve ladies from Katanning and Narrogin joined together at Dome Café in Katanning on 10 December 2020 for their annual advent lunch get together. It was a beautiful day and the lunch was very tasty. This was complemented by our favourite drink of choice. The best part was getting together, and we didn’t need to wash up! We were each presented with four Ferrero Rocher chocolates and a handmade tile coaster by Sigrid with “Jesus …

LWNSW Retreat January 2020

Come on a journey with me and I will give you more than you can imagine! Opening my Bible to Ezekiel 34:11–16 with a heading The Good Shepherd of Israel little did I know what a ride it would be! A chance to prepare a Retreat for the women of NSW/ACT was like a gift that came from a freshwater spring. An amazing pathway back in March 2019 with the title Pathways to the Good …

The time for saving and the time for throwing away (Ecclesiastes 3:6b)

Eighteen months ago, we travelled to Lake Toba in Sumatra, Indonesia. I had stayed in the same area in 1981 so was keen to revisit. Back then I fell in love with the people and the place and thought, “This is what heaven will be like”. The scenery is spectacular from the plains of Medan through the four-hour drive into the mountains and across the seemingly bottomless volcanic crater lake.   There are aspects of …

“Crazy Cupcake Capers” AGM (Always Great to Meet) – St Petri, Nuriootpa

Firstly, thank you to all our beautiful generous ladies, who baked and made and decorated and voted and laughed and chatted and voted some more. You are all a wonderful blessing in our community! So, we: gathered, greeted, laughed, voted, sang, listened, prayed, sang, discussed, voted, clapped, thanked, prayed, chatted, and voted some more. Then we had afternoon tea (Yum!) and voted again! Yes, we even fitted in some serious “meeting stuff”! Our Leadership …

Immanuel, Woden Valley NSW

The year 2020 has been challenging for our Immanuel Church, Woden, Guild Ladies as I’m sure it has been for all small groups around the country. Seniors’ luncheons were cancelled indefinitely. Retreat, fellowship days, Convention, ACT Church Women services, were all cancelled. Church services were live-streamed – thanks to the technical wizards who made that possible – and the rhythm of all our lives was changed, seemingly overnight! Phone calls, though, are a poor substitute …

Wantok Place – Museum of Papua New Guinea Artefacts

He sets the time for finding Ecclesiastes 3:6a I retired from the full-time workforce in July 2016, and I had always imagined I would like to spend my retirement years undertaking some voluntary church work – “finding a place for service in retirement”. But I had no idea where this vague idea would lead me. As it happened, I was then employed for 13 months as a Project Officer for the LCANZ. After that interesting …

The Lutheran Church in Cambodia

Rev Tuch Keov Sreyleak’s life is part of the story of the Lutheran Church in Cambodia. Rev Sreyleak comes from the village of Phum Krus in Cambodia. She is one of four children and was only eight years old when tragedy struck – her father died, and her mother left the family in the village. As the eldest, Rev Sreyleak became responsible for the care of her siblings, including finding food and education, as well …

As I see it – Grace Bock

Everything that happens in this world happens at the time God chooses. Ecclesiastes 3:1 For those of us who live in the southern areas of Australia, where the seasons are more clearly defined, the changes in foliage and temperature serve as a timely reminder of our ever-changing world. The last twelve months have been a series of changes and challenges for us all, but when we take the time to stop and contemplate, we can …

The open bible for devotion

Devotion – April 2021

Everything in Its Time Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 One of my favourite images is that of the “4-season tree”. You may have seen it, but if you haven’t let me describe it to you. The image is of the same tree, but in each of the four seasons of the year. In summer, the tree is full of lush, green leaves, basking in the sunshine. In autumn, the leaves have turned brilliant shades of red, orange and …

The Bible - the word of God

Bible Study – April 2021

See, I am doing a new thing The Lord likes to be involved in our lives. He has created us to be in relationship with him, yet he also values highly the freedom he has given us to choose, whether we will go our own way, away from him; or whether we will trust him and let him lead us into his best for us. We are not robots. We freely receive from the Lord …

A tribute to Marina Fielke – 12/08/1935 – 26/11/2020

We give thanks to God for Marina’s service to LWSA-NT, serving the executive as an extra member, 2nd Vice-President from 2002-2005, 1st Vice-President in 2006 and then becoming President, upon Marlene Schumacher’s ill-health in 2007. Marina presided until 2012, having been driven to all of her visits across the state by her husband Gil, retiring at the 48thConvention held at Loxton. It was at Marina’s instigation that a display of Lutheran Women became part of …
