Zion Women’s Fellowship, Angaston

We are a small fellowship, being fed and led by God’s Word, caring for each other, and doing what we can to help. Our big event last year was a Biggest Morning Tea fundraiser in aid of cancer research, and in honour of one of our members, Joan Habermann. As we have a large hall, being COVID-compliant was very manageable. Our speaker was a local retired doctor, speaking about the latest in cancer research. I must say the hall looked stunning. We raided our cupboards for the old flowery china cup, saucer and plate sets and as many flowery tiered cake-stands as we could find. The theme was pink – food trestles adorned with pink tulle flounces; tables laid with sheer pink table runners, pink paper napkins, and native flower arrangements. A competition table, easily accessible to everyone, held a raffle for a hamper of goodies, guess-the-weight-of-the-fruitcake, guess-the-number-of-teabags/Mars bars-in-a-jar, quiz sheets, IQ tests, and a door prize. These all made for an enjoyable morning and added healthily to our fundraising. The food looked colourful and inviting – mini quiches, club sandwiches, pinwheels, butterfly cakes, cupcakes, slices, cream puffs, scones, savoury and sweet, and we served plunger/dripolator coffee as well as tea – the trolleys were brought around to the tables. It was a wonderful event, so much fun, and well worth the effort.

In his name,

Judie Kleinig, Secretary
