A fabulous, amazing, very blessed birthday meeting was held on Wednesday 11 September, 2019. Just a few of the words that were used by our ladies and guest speaker, Ruby Stodard.
There were almost 50 of us including 16 visitors and two men, with lots of laughing, singing, listening, chatting, asking questions and eating, we sang Happy Birthday and we cut the cake.
Pastor’s devotion focused on the women and young girls in the Bible and the ways that they served their God and Lord. He likened the ladies and girls in our church community to these women and girls being involved in all sorts of ways and serving our Lord and Saviour.
Several ladies, including some of our visitors, were the recipients of the lucky door prizes and everyone took home a “party bag” which had a fridge magnet with a Bible verse on it and a homemade chocolate.
Our guest speaker for the “party” was Ruby Stodard who, together with Rachael Braunack, started their business Kind Hearted Kitchen four years ago. Together, with the teams of volunteers who come together to help with the Cook Ups, they have produced 18,000 meals in these first four years! They make 12 to 18 different dishes each time depending very much on the produce and ingredients that they have. The meals are all frozen and then distributed to: The Hub at Tanunda, Lutheran Community Care, Carers and Disability Link, Child and Family Health, The Uniting Church’s Community Kitchen where the frozen meals are sent home with the people who come for the hot meal, to quite a few of the local School programs and to some individuals whom they know struggle to provide meals for their families.
Ruby also spoke about the opportunity to help others and how one person, doing what might seem like a little thing, creates a ripple effect and ends up helping more than you may ever know. The gift of a meal can sometimes make all the difference in a person’s life and will often be the thing they won’t ask for. The meals are for anyone and everyone from new Mums and their families to older people.
The girls base the meals on being able to use up every bit of produce that they receive. This also makes each Cook Up interesting and fun to see just what they will be able to create and it’s all about the flavour! They want people to see and know that they care about the meals that are prepared for them.
Wow and fun and interesting and great are the words to describe the day…
and Thank you Father is the response for all his good gifts and this wonderful day!
