God Made You So Very Special
The Ladies of the LWWA celebrated their 50th Anniversary in May 2019, at Bethlehem Church, Morley. A lot of work went into making it special. The President, Roslyn Zadow, had a vision for the day, although very ill, she came from her hospital bed to spend some time there. Thirty-five ladies and many partners made the trip west to celebrate the special occasion. Lunch time saw many of the previous Presidents of LWWA cut a beautifully decorated cake. The day ended with a delicious dinner, entertainment, and guest speakers.
Fellowship Day was held at St Luke’s Parkwood in August and Pastor Glenn Crouch, the Spiritual Advisor, followed the study from Convention. For our sisters who were unable to attend the Convention, another cake was decorated and cut by the new President.
Convention for 2020 had been planned for May, in Kalgoorlie, about 600 kilometres east of Perth. A number of ladies had planned to make this trip by train, plane and in caravans with their partners. But, as we all know, along came COVID-19 and all the work and plans had to be put on hold. Our very resourceful Secretary, Karen Crouch and Pastor Glenn came to the rescue of the ladies and held Bible Study via Zoom each Friday morning, it was such a blessing, ladies from all over our large State came together. This proved neither distance nor COVID-19 could rob us of studying the Word of God or supporting one another at this difficult time.
On 31 October 2020, restrictions were lifted on the numbers of people being able to mix in doors. The Executive Committee took full advantage of this and organised a Fellowship Day which coincided with Reformation Day. Fifty-five ladies came from country and city to spend the day together. It was a really great day with so many blessings after being locked down for so long. The Bishop of WA, Pastor Mike Fulwood, opened the day with acknowledgement to Country, and prayers. This was followed with two specially chosen hymns in memory of two of the ladies who had gone to be with our loving Father earlier in the year. The hymns were their favourites. Pastor Glenn lead a very informative Bible Study. Pastor Matthew Bishop was guest speaker. He spoke about the life of Katie Luther, wife of Martin Luther. The Ladies all went Home from the Rockingham Church with a white rose tied with red, gold, blue and black ribbons.
Convention 2021 was held on 1 May at the Kalgoorlie/Boulder Lutheran Church. The ladies were welcomed by the President and thanked for making the long trip there. Karen Crouch welcomed the ladies to Kalgoorlie. Welcome to Country by Mr Lyndon Brownley, an Indigenous Councillor of the district, was wonderful and extremely informative.
The theme for the day was Abundant Blessings and there were many of those, over the day and evening, that followed. Pastor Glenn lead a Bible Study on Hagar. Four guest speakers spoke on the blessing they had received. The day ended with the new Executive Committee being installed by the Bishop, Pastor Mike Fulwood.
A number of WA ladies will be making the trip east to Horsham in September.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Proverbs 3:5,6 ESV
