President's Reflections

President’s Reflections – April/May 2021

This is the day that the Lord has made … we shall rejoice and be glad in it …

Wasn’t yesterday also the day that the Lord had made? And right back to the beginning of time, THIS IS the day that the Lord had made.

Each day is a new day in Christ; as we walk the road to the cross, this Easter and all those Easters gone before and those still to come, we rejoice in the assured promise of the resurrection. HE HAS RISEN. Each day is a reminder of God’s desire to give us the great gift – the forgiveness of sin, a new day, the day that the Lord planned from the beginning.

He died; conquered death, rose from the grave on the third day; let us rejoice and be glad in it.

We enter the season of autumn. I’m sure that many of you will be looking to cooler days. God willing throughout Australia, committees have preparations in hand to welcome many to the upcoming state conventions. We pray that this will be a time of blessing and joy as you come together sharing God’s Word and hearing about the projects that you support.

As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace. 1 Peter 4:10

This may also be the opportunity that God calls you to share your talents on a committee.

I listen to “Tues Encouragement” with Pastor Mathew, LifeWay Lutheran Church, Newcastle. He shared on one of these talks a story of a loaf of bread getting pulled out of an oven and saying to the baker: “Yeh, thanks for making me. I know I am a loaf of bread and you wanted to make sandwiches out of me, BUT you know I have a nice thick crust and I’m nice and hard and I’m shaped like a rectangle, I’m going to go over there and get built into a house.”

Pastor Mathew explained that often we do that with God and our lives, we say thanks for creating me, for the gift of my life but I am going to spend it and use it over here, not listening to the maker.

Do we truly listen to what he has called us to be and do? Some will be made for sandwiches, full of fresh fillings (ideas) to be shared around and others will be made for bricks, filled with sweet mortar, all laid together supporting each other.

Take the new day that he has created for us all and we will rejoice in all that it is.

And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9
