Recently, at my church, we had a ‘Mission Festival’ Sunday. A day that we focussed on, not only the work the Lutheran Church of Australia (LCA) does in overseas (International) mission, but also what the LCA does with local and home missions. As a church we try to reach out to all those who need to hear the Gospel and the saving love of Jesus. During the service, Lutheran Tract Mission was also mentioned as being an integral part of sharing the Gospel in written form.
Paul continually used the written form as a way of sharing the love of Jesus in his letters to the churches in Rome, Corinth, Ephesus, Thessalonica etc., and also to his friends out doing missions: Timothy, Titus, and Philemon. (There are also others). In his letters, Paul was always very encouraging and grace-filled:
I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ. Philemon v6 (NIV)
So too, as women of the church, we continue to share our faith in so many little, and often unseen, ways to bring others to Christ. The Lutheran women of the church have always been very supportive of Lutheran Tract Mission and are still the greatest uses of tracts for ministry. Thank you! That is what the Tract Mission is all about – sharing the love of Jesus in little ways, reaching people in different ways through different means.

In the last few years, we have been producing Lenten and Advent devotionals for each Lutheran Church to download and print, and hopefully every member in every church has one to read over this time. The new one for this Advent is “Journey through Advent”. In it we encounter the people who foretold of our Lord’s coming and those who were the first visitors to the manger. Stories around the traditions of Christmas are also included. If you do not have one, ask your pastor to print them out for your congregation from our website: www.ltm.org.au

This Christmas, we have also produced a new Magnetic Nativity set – $3 for an A4 sheet of 15 magnets to be put on fridges, for grandchildren, great-grandchildren, displayed in aged care facilities, given as gifts to children for Christmas, or pre-school gifts. The uses are limited only by the imagination.

Wishing you all God’s love and peace this Advent and Christmas. Please let me know how you use LTM’s resources in your mission. www.ltm.org.au
