St John’s Unley Women’s Fellowship 2021

Sal Huckel presenting her Bible Study to our Fellowship

In 2021, we were blessed to be able to meet for nine out of our 10 meetings, observing social distancing and with the use of masks. The Committee met in January to organise the program for the year. Our fellowship has a membership of 25 with an average attendance of 16.

We use the Bible Study from the Lutheran Women magazine. Pastor Andrew Brook has led us but, in October, Sal Huckel personally presented her study to our fellowship.

In March, it was our fellowship’s 78th birthday and, after the meeting, we met at Living Choice Fullarton for lunch. Many of our members attended the World Day of Prayer at St Michael’s Mitcham, the country being represented was Vanuatu.

At the April meeting, a member’s husband spoke on “Reflections on Anzac”.

Many of our members attended the Convention in May at St Martin’s Lutheran Church, Mannum.

In June, our fellowship was ministry of the month. We presented, on the four Sundays, something different to the congregation in relation to our objectives. Last year, also in June, Unley and Underdale were host to the Metropolitan South Zone Fellowship Day at Unley. The theme was Sharing Jesus Love by Celebrating, Growing, Caring and Telling. One of the many highlights was the Concordia College Choir.

Our Guest Speaker in August was Anny Ferguson, the Growing Faith Coordinator at St Johns, who shared her journey which enabled her to take on this diverse position.

In September, Mrs Dawn Stiller shared her memories from 1965 to 1967. She spoke of her incredible experience of travel to and from Brisbane and her time at the Bible College in Minneapolis.

At the October meeting our members each shared one of their favourite recipes.

This year our church is holding a Christmas Tree Festival. The fellowship is displaying a Spice and Chrismon Tree.

Throughout the year we support many LWA projects, as well as the Christmas Hampers and honey biscuits for Lutheran Care.

This year, after our AGM, our committee is organising our Christmas lunch in the Church hall.

Peace, Love and Joy to all.
