Renmark Ladies Guild

As the years roll by, so our numbers are decreasing with people entering nursing homes or passing on to their heavenly home.

We currently have seven members attending our meetings. One of our members, who is 98 years old, was one of the original members of the Guild.

For the last six months we have been able to study the Lutheran Women Bible Studies amongst ourselves, as we have not had a pastor to lead us.

The format changed at our last meeting and, in place of study, we all were given a “Find the Word Puzzle”. The words left, spelt the phrase taken from a passage in the Bible. Some of the ladies had never done this before and thoroughly enjoyed participating, and all asked for more.

We assist with catering for the church; we still cater for funerals and, in the last 12 months, this has been done for six funerals, all members of our Church.

Allocation of monies each year is forwarded for various missions within the Lutheran Church, also donations have been given to LCC and Lutheran World Service.

A doctor in our congregation was able to purchase a Defibrillator for the church, and $700 was given to the cost by the Guild.

Each year we can forward honey biscuits to LCC, to be distributed to various institutions in Adelaide, with homemade Christmas tags to go with each packet.

With July being a cooler month, we make our annual visit to Pilbey House (part of the nursing home in Renmark), patients love music, so we use the Karaoke Machine, with delightful scenery, and the words to sing to. Morning tea is served to the patients.

After our final meeting for the year in November, we celebrate with a meal at the Renmark Hotel with the table nicely decorated by the staff. We return to our hall and enjoy homemade pavlova and ice cream made by Eileen Bennett, our Treasurer.

We were able to celebrate our 52nd Birthday with a meal at the Renmark Hotel, once again returning to the hall to enjoy sweets and coffee.

We trust, God willing, that we will continue to meet on a monthly basis in fellowship and friendship studying his Word.
