Date: 23 August 2019
Theme: 50th Jubilee celebration text Leviticus 25.
Approximately 50 ladies joined together with our Bishop Mike Fulwood and spiritual advisor Pastor Glenn Crouch.
Greeted by the lovely committee, we were each warmed by the sumptuous spread of morning tea.
Adam Snell, one of the talented musicians, was asked to write some music to go with the poem that Angela Ziersch wrote for the 50th Jubilee convention earlier this year, which was truly amazing and touched everyone in a special way.
Ronda Hahn, our LWWA president opened the day. After singing a few songs together, we were delighted with Bible study led by Pastor Glenn as he led us through “A foretaste of what is to come”. The more we meditate on the scriptures that Jesus read [the Old Testament], the more insights the Holy Spirit reveals in the New Testament.
One of the passages we read was the Lord’s prayer from Matthew 6:9–13, “Our Father wants us to use the riches he blesses us with to help us show forth love to others”. Also, the New Heaven, the New Earth and the restoration of an even better Garden is in the future. However, through the victory achieved at the cross and by the power of the Holy Spirit, we can receive and share a taste of that future now.
A short break for time of getting to know someone we didn’t already know was lovely and then a soup and cold meat and salad was served with fruit, cakes and chocolates to complete the feast. A further golden jubilee cake was made with the top decoration from the May convention and cut by President of LWWA Ronda Hahn.
Dianne Adams and Jenny Forrest performed a skit on “Guides for all occasions” which was extremely funny, talking about all the different guides one can hire. None of these guides was very helpful, but we learnt the importance from our heavenly Father for his guidance instead of the earthly ones.
Graham Lienert spoke on getting the ladies of LWWA to write stories for the WA Lutheran History Book he is writing.
There was another skit performed also by Jenny Forrest as Jonah and Dianne Adams as herself entitled “Has God been talking to you lately”. Both chatted about what has been going on in their lives when God has intervened and offered his advice. This happened many thousands of years ago and was identical and relevant for advice in today’s world.
Our focal guest speaker was Maria Rudolph, the wife of Pastor Michael at Duncraig church. She spoke on her life journey as she found out about becoming a Christian and getting baptised here in Australia. This was a life changing experience for her as she was born in Germany and meeting a new family who adopted her and looked after her in her spiritual and physical requirements. She was a backpacker from Germany at the time and her journey was simply incredible, showing how God works in people. Maria went on to say, this is important in our lives. No matter how simple a good turn we can do for someone, it may be the one where their lives can turn to see God too.
The day concluded with a holy communion service.
