Bethlehem – Adelaide – Ladies Guild

Bethlehem Women’s Guild, Adelaide, has enjoyed many blessings with Bible studies being led by Pastors Pearce and Pfeiffer, and in 2019 Vicar Peter Noble. Bible Studies are usually taken from Lutheran Women magazine.

We are in our 127th year. We had a big celebration in October 2018 for 125th birthday and invited other guilds to share this milestone with us. On the Sunday, we had a community lunch with the congregation to mark the occasion.

We have a membership of 13 with an average attendance of 10.

LWA and LWSA-NT projects are supported, as well as a card ministry to Fullarton Lutheran Homes.

Our monthly meetings are kept interesting with guest speakers and varying activities.

In February, our Vicar Peter Noble gave us a very interesting insight into his life and his journey of faith to becoming a pastor of the Lutheran Church.

For our March meeting we shared our treasures when members brought items of jewellery and told us their story.

In April, Di Gerrie spoke to us about the seven Lutheran Community Care (LCC) Op shops under her care.

Pastor Malcolm Bartsch entertained us in May with a talk on his lifelong passion for Frogs bringing a live specimen.

In June, Anne Hansen, designer of tracts for Lutheran Tract Mission, led us through how to access the tracts via the internet, sending e-tracts and she was very excited about just releasing new sticker sheets with Bible verses.

In July, we welcomed our visitors from St Stephens Fellowship and our guest speaker Sonya Will from LCC foster children, who explained how the carers are selected, how they are matched to the children in their care and types of children who are fostered.

In August, Elva Mutton and Roma Zweck demonstrated various flower arrangements, using different media, showing us their amazing talents.

Pastors’ Panel – Question Time was the theme of our September meeting and Pastors Pearce, Pfeiffer and Dr Adam Hensley answered our questions with much lively discussion.

Our 126th birthday in October was the highlight of the year where we were entertained by the Bethlehem Chamber Singers with a wonderful musical selection. A delicious Devonshire Tea completed the day.

In November, after our AGM, we enjoyed an extended Bible study and fellowship.

Our final event for the year in December was our Advent lunch at the Buckingham Arms Hotel.
